At Rx Systems PF, we've
created a results-oriented product line that can be easily incorporated
into any lifestyle and benefit any skin type for life. The core of
our line is our glycolic acid based products; tailor made to benefit
individual skin types, each works to promote healthy skin. Our line
is made complete by non-glycolic acid based products; designed to
be used in conjunction with our glycolic products, these “extras”
provide your skin with maximum results. Our non-glycolic products
focus on specific ailments of the skin such as aging, severe dryness
or skin irritation.

Understanding Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid, a derivative of sugar cane, has the smallest molecular
size of all the alpha hydroxy acids. Its size enables it to most effectively
rejuvenate the skin through deep penetration.
Glycolic acid targets, loosens and dissolves the strateum corneum
and corneocytes leaving the skin with a smooth, moist, refined, vibrant
appearance. The strateum corneum is a glue-like substance that holds
the outer layer of our cells together; it is the build-up of the strateum
corneum that is responsible for the skin's rough, dry, scaly appearance
and brown age or sun spots. Corneocytes are dead skin cells that block
follicles in the skin and cause acne. Once the follicles are clear
the glycolic acid works to keep them clear and prevent acne from reoccurring.
Glycolic acid continues to benefit the deeper layers of the skin by
regenerating the production of collagen and elastin, reducing the
appearance of fine lines and scarring.
A Superior Glycolic Acid
Did you know that not all glycolic acid based products are created
equal? There are important features which affect the benefits glycolic
acid can provide for the skin including free acid concentration, the
pH of the product and the base (or vehicle) to which the glycolic
acid is blended.
Free acid concentration is the most important factor. The higher the
free acid concentration greater the improvement in your skins texture,
color and tone. Many companies buffer or neutralize the glycolic acid
which reduces the level of free acid concentration. Even buffered
products are effective if the pH falls between 2.5 and 3.5 and the
free acid concentration is at least 5%. The lower the pH of the product,
the higher the free acid concentration. Without the appropriate labeling
it is impossible for you to know if a product is of high quality or
if it will provide maximum benefits to your skin.
The pH of normal skin is about 4.8, meaning the skin is acid balance.
Glycolic acid products are able to benefit the skin because they are
acidic. Acidic products with a pH of 2.5 to 3.5 cause a natural exfoliation
of the outer layer of skin. Again, the lower the pH of the product,
the higher the level of free acid concentration and the more effective
the treatment.
Our product labels disclose the pH of each product, confirming our
high quality and guaranteed results. Because skin can develop a tolerance
to the improvement produced by a level of glycolic acid, our product
line offers a step-up system. Our step-up system challenges the skin
with progressive levels of glycolic acid in our Facial Creams and
Facial Lotions, ensuring on-going benefits and continuous results.
The base or vehicle to which the glycolic acid is added manipulates
how deeply glycolic acid will penetrate the skin. Alcohol-based products
increase the depth of penetration of the skin. Use of these products,
such as Acne-Oily Solution should be used in moderation to avoid excessive
dryness or skin irritation.
Oil-free, protein base products allow excellent penetration in areas
of thin or sensitive skin. Our Eye-Gel is
formulated in this base to give your skin maximum results. Cream bases,
which do not contain mineral oil, are excellent for the delivery of
glycolic acid in normal areas of the skin.
